Eiko Hosoe

Eikoh Hosoe (1933–2024) was a Japanese photographer and filmmaker who emerged during the post-World War II experimental arts movement. Known for his psychologically charged, high-contrast black and white photography, he explored themes of death, eroticism, and mythology. His work includes collaborations with figures such as writer Yukio Mishima and dancer Tatsumi Hijikata, and he was recognized for his contributions to the artistic reputations of his subjects.
