Lao Tzu

Laozi is a legendary Chinese philosopher traditionally credited as the author of the Tao Te Ching, a foundational text of Taoism. Historical accounts identify him as a royal archivist for the Zhou court during the Spring and Autumn period. Modern scholarship suggests the figure may represent a composite of various writers, with the name Laozi serving as an archaic title meaning Old Master.
