Robert Burton

Robert Burton (1577–1640) was an English scholar, writer, and fellow at Oxford University. He is best known for his encyclopaedic work, The Anatomy of Melancholy. His contributions to Renaissance humanism and English-language literature established him as a significant essayist and educator of his era.
