Socrates

Socrates was an ancient Greek philosopher from Classical Athens and a foundational figure in Western moral philosophy. Although he authored no texts himself, his question-and-answer method of inquiry inspired the Socratic dialogue genre through the accounts of his students, Plato and Xenophon. In 399 BC, he was tried for impiety and corrupting the youth, ultimately receiving a death sentence that he carried out by consuming poison.
